Homemade Waffle for Ice Cream, Fruits or Both!

Attention free advertisement coming! πŸ˜€ So this post is inspired by a creation of my all time favorite ice cream place, the Cold Stone Creamery in California. Unfortunately (or luckily, taking care of our waistline?) there is no such place yet in Hungary, so we had to come up with our favorite creation on our own – taking the inspiration from the oh-so-yummy Banana-Caramel-Crunch wonder creation.

So here is our take! Special applause for the home-made waffle please πŸ˜‰

Home-made Waffle Cup

Ingredients (as seen here):

50g flour
50g butter
50g sugar
1 egg white

Preparation:

1. Beat the flour, sugar and egg white, then add the melted butter. Beat until smooth and even.
2. Watch this video to see the drill! (No joke, haha). So basically, mount 1-2 tablespoonful of the batter on a baking sheet and spread it out into a nice and even disk shape. The baking sheet will slip and fold and the batter will be sticky and uncooperative but don’t give up πŸ˜€ I eventually got it right as well. Pop the baking tray in pre-heated oven and bake the waffles until golden brown, few minutes only. When ready, make the desired shape FAST because as soon as the waffles start to cool, they will not be flexible anymore and will break. To make the waffle cup, I lifted the disks from the baking sheet and pushed them into a cereal bowl (yield: 3 waffle cups). Careful not to burn your fingers πŸ™‚ You can also shape the waffle into cones for those who prefer the “traditional” version.

From here, let your imagination fly! We scooped a few balls of French Vanilla Ice Cream into the cups, added bananas, kiwi, strawberries and some roasted crushed almonds.
It was delicious!!
