Citrus-Cinnamon Milk Rice
… the way my Mr likes it! I could settle for a simple milk+rice+little sugar combination with cocoa on top (as my mother always makes it), however if with a little extra I can get that big appreciation from the significant other, it is worth a tad more effort! Not that this recipe is complicated, quite the contrary actually!
Citrus-Cinnamon Milk Rice (Arroz con Leche)
cinnamon – powdered, and a whole piece
rind of 1 lemon and 1 small orange
In a bowl, add milk, rice, cinnamon powder and 1 stick, rind of lemon and orange and sugar to your liking. Boil and cook until the rice is tender – gradually add more milk (or water) if the rice needs more liquid. Stir frequently. When fully cooked, you may add a little more milk or water, stir, cover and let sit for a while before serving. It is perfect warm or cold! Sprinkle with some cinnamon, cocoa powder or add fruits to your liking.
